about the child rights foundation
background
Child Rights Foundation is a child-focused, non-profit, non-political and non-religious Cambodian non-governmental organization working towards full implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) in Cambodia.
Recognizing that today's children and young people are tomorrow's mothers, fathers, educators, doctors, political and business leaders, we believe promoting their rights is critical to the sustained future development and prosperity of Cambodia.
We aim to promote long-term change in the way children are viewed, cared for and treated by encouraging all individuals to take personal and collective responsibility for making the lives of children safe, positive and wholesome.
We endeavor to build local capacity and to encourage ownership of our activities to ensure their sustainability. Our organization was established on November 20, 2000 and was registered with the Royal Government of Cambodia on March 6, 2001 in accordance with the Constitution of Cambodia.
vision
Our vision is for all of Cambodia's children to grow up to be educated in a peaceful and healthy environment so that they are able to exercise their rights to live meaningful lives and to participate fully in society.
mission
We aim to enhance understanding of children's rights and their needs by raising awareness and advocating for their rights at all levels. Our projects strive to empower children as well as to promote their participation and voices in society. We assist the Royal Government of Cambodia in implementing the UNCRC and monitoring its implementation throughout the country.
partners
From planning to implementation, monitoring and evaluation-our programs rest upon a solid foundation of collaboration, which we believe is essential to encouraging ownership of our activities and to ensuring their long-term sustainability.
This spirit of cooperation has permeated our organization since 2002, when we forged a critical agreement with the Minister of Education, Youth and Sport to collaborate with us on our programs. Since then, we've made it our priority to harmonize our projects with national government policies to maximize their impact and sustainability.
Our promotion of child rights and our success in scaling up our efforts to mainstream child rights in Cambodia's educational system would not be possible without the unwavering commitment and support of key national, provincial and district government policymakers, teachers, regional and provincial Teacher Training Colleges, school administrators, children and youth organizations and, of course, the children themselves.
